Individual Therapy

I am so pleased to welcome you to Red Oak Psychotherapy and to provide a space for you to learn more about who we are and what we offer. I hope that, in these pages and throughout our time together, you will find what it is you need and desire.

I work with youth and adults (ages 10+) seeking support with a variety of questions or concerns including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships and attachment, self-esteem, stress, grief, anger management,  school refusal, ADHD and neurodiversity, chronic pain and illness, and identity.  I am proud to be a connected and committed therapist competent in serving the needs of the LGBTTQ+ community and their allies.

The journey to where you are today, to seeking a therapist and reaching out for support, can take many years and a great deal of searching. I thank you for arriving here and taking some time to look around, be curious, and get to know Red Oak Psychotherapy. It is my practice to always be open, honest, and non-judgmental as you share what is most important to you, and what it is you would like to accomplish in therapy. From the first point of contact, I endeavour to create a connection and to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on compassion, safety, and trust. Within this relationship is where the most meaningful work is likely to take place.

Individual therapy involves you and I working together, one-on-one, either in office or through teletherapy (phone or video). We will co-create a safe and compassionate space wherein I hope you will feel empowered in sharing your experiences and acknowledging areas of hardship or uncertainty. Therapy can, at times, be uncomfortable, frustrating, frightening, and otherwise challenging. This is a normal part of the process and a fairly common by-product of doing the introspective work. However, I believe there is something beautiful in sitting with another person and being able to say, perhaps for the first time, what it is you are thinking and feeling without fear of judgment or questioning.

Therapy can be helpful in supporting you to adopt a new or more balanced perspective on life and the circumstances you may encounter. The specific interventions and overall process will be unique to each individual and his/her/their situation, needs, desires, and goals. It would be my pleasure to spend time getting to know you, and what brings you to therapy, so that we may co-create a plan for moving toward your goals in a way that meets you where you are in this moment.

If you have questions or would like to learn more about Red Oak Psychotherapy or any of our services please do not hesitate to reach out by phone or email. I offer all prospective clients a free phone consultation to answer any questions you may have, introduce myself and my therapeutic philosophy, and to ensure you can make an informed decision that is best for your needs at this time.
