Red Oak Psychotherapy is a narrative, person-centred practice based in Ottawa, ON.
Offering therapy for children, teens, and adults - in person and virtually.
I'm Mason (he/him), Registered Psychotherapist and Clinic Director.
I work primarily with queer, trans, and neurodiverse individuals, and I bring lived experience to that work as a queer, trans, and neurodiverse person myself. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I believe in collaboration, honesty, and making real space for the full complexity of who you are. I integrate humour, creativity, and a genuine shared humanity into the work we do together. Whatever chapter you're on, I'm glad you found your way here.
Who are we?
Red Oak Psychotherapy is home to four practitioners - Mason, Taylor, Kurtis, and Willow - each with their own style, background, and set of tools. Between us, we draw from art therapy, narrative therapy, emotion-focused, acceptance and commitment, and cognitive behavioural approaches to name a few. We work a little differently from each other, and that's kind of the point - because finding the right fit matters, and there's no one-size-fits-all in this work. Whoever you are and whatever you're carrying, there's someone here for you.

The Process
We know that reaching out is often the hardest part. Below is a rough map of how getting started works - and at any point along the way, if you have questions or just want to talk before booking anything, we're here for that too. We're genuinely glad you found us.
You can schedule a free 15-minute meet and greet with any one of our clinicians - or all of them - to get a feel for who we are, how we work, and our current availability. There's no pressure and no commitment required. It's simply a chance to ask questions, share a little about what's brought you here, and see if it feels like the right fit.
If it feels right, we can book your first appointment at the end of the meet and greet, or you can follow up with us at a later date by email or through our online portal. If you're still searching for the right fit, we would be glad to offer referrals to other practices or services. Finding the right person matters - take the time you need.
First sessions can feel like a lot. You're meeting someone new, figuring out what to say, wondering if you're doing it right. For the record: you are. There's no script and no right way to show up. We'll spend that first hour getting to know each other - what brought you in, what feels important, and what you're hoping might be different. We move at your pace.
